Make sure pets stay indoors in the evenings, which is the coyotes primary hunting time. If a pet needs to stay outside, install a fence or bright lights to keep coyotes away.

By TOM PALMER THE LEDGER LAKELAND | Tigre lived up to his name Tuesday. The 2-year-old pit bull fought an alligator in Lake Hunter and literally escaped from the jaws of death. Suffering several cuts on his left leg and couple of loose teeth, the dog, whose name is Spanish for tiger, cheated a gator out of breakfast and is expected to recover.
